家有一老，如有一宝 (An old is like a treasure)

Like old Chinese saying, 'When you have an old (person) at home, it is like you have a treasure' (家有一老，如有一宝).

This value may not be appreciated by many modern couplse or family today. However, I do think, this is so true! Many older people like to offer advice. Their point of views may be relevant though the 'solutions' they suggest may differ in my generation. However, the points they raise usually are valid concerns from their experiences, and they usually do bring new perspectives to the discussion. However, I may not always take in their recommendations nor suggestions wholly. Reason being, my situation is different, the generation I live in may have either wider spectrum of options to consider, and I know the person in issue better so that I have better knowledge to adapt the solutions etc.

In conclusion, I think we should give a chance for older people to share their experiences and views with us, and we should appreciate their kind gestures for doing so. I think it is lucky to have an old treasure at home :)
